By offering classes, we hope to teach beginners and advanced learners about skills and techniques. Unless noted, all required tools and materials are provided so all the student is responsible for when they show up is learning and having fun.
The resident Mann Tool instructor, David Pietras, is a South Carolina native and has lived in Columbia for 53 years. He started woodworking in 1978 when he was hired by Doc Wildes Funky House Building CompanyTools. His love for the forests and his passion for wood shows in many of his designs and projects. One of his favorite things he has done in his career was being a high school woodworking teacher for four years.
No experience required. In this entry level class we will show you how to set up the lathe and guide you through the proper procedure to complete a Slimline acryllic pen. Everyone will turn a pen.

See Schedule6:00pm-8:30pm. Students will follow along with the instructor as he lays out various techniques and discusses several strategies to get the most out of your CNC or Shaper Origin. He will also cover some inexpensive or free software that will give you more options in creating unique projects.
See ScheduleEver thought of making a river table? Mixing epoxy and wood together makes a beautiful combination. All it takes is some time and few materials. This class will show you how to make a form, prep your wood, mix your epoxy, color your epoxy, and extract the finished product from the form. The wood will be ambrosia maple and any coloring of your choice. This class is making the top only. We do ask that you bring a drill (not an impact) to mix the epoxy, and an orbital sander. You can take the finished product home with you. The table will be approximately 24”x16”X1.25”. This is a 2 day class spanning two consecutive Saturdays.
