This class is an intermediate-level woodworking course that delves into the art of turning wooden finials on a wood lathe. Building on basic lathe skills, the class introduces students to more nuanced aspects of wood selection, turning tools, and techniques. The course begins with an overview of different elements that can comprise a finial and basic design issues. Using this information students will design and plan a finial and learn to turn an item to match a predetermined shape and size.
